Are you in NEX?

We went to the new shopping centre at Serangoon Central today afternoon. The building is called NEX, looks like wafer fab plant..no windows at all...lol. No carpark at all, we got to park at one HDB carpark nearby.

The LED lights are interesting, but no changing effect.

The new shopping mall is big. Think as big as ION Orchard. Most of shops are open and the crowd is a lot. The only thing is the narrow walkway, can cause inconvenience. Look at the atrium, can have many push carts around.

Guess we will go back someday again when all shops are open for business.

Yes, we will be away for one week in some cold country for holiday. Watch this space for more updates...cool!

New Camera on the roll!

Went to Sitex show at Singapore Expo. Supposed to hunt for a modest and decent digtal compact camera, as my old Canon A710S is aging like 5 years. Did few days of homework via internet reviews. Comparing the Fujifilm F300EXR, Canon 1000HS, Sony T9 and Olympus 8010.

Was eyeing this Fujifilm F80EXR model and finally I get this black version at $359. $40 cheaper than the advertising price. The Canon and Sony queue was far too long to beat my patience. So decided to get this Fujifilm F80EXR. The main difference is the lack of panorama and 10X digital zoom, as compared to F300EXR model.

I will be experimenting this new camera now and then...so watch for my photos and videos here...

Roaming Wirelessly

Our house wireless network is slow, using "g" network. So one of our friends suggested us to upgrade to "n" router for faster speed. So we bought this Aztech wireless router that has "n" mode from Challenger. The router says that it can connect to the the nextgen fiber optic network in Singapore.

Alamak, when I setup for the first time, it has so many problems, the wireless signal dropped, internet cannot be connected even though the starhub modem is okay. Almost want to throw this router out from my window...phui phui phui!

I went to google and found out that the router firmware has a lot of technical issues. So downloaded the new firmware and installed. Seems everything goes on fine, but occasionally the internet cannot be connected.

In the house compound, my two Asus notebook can connect to 150mbps and one hp notebook can connect to 144mbps.

Haven't try to connect my Broadcomm network media player to the router that has usb/ethernet port function. Got to wait until my son is playing with his nanny, den I can try to setup...lol...

Amazing Arrow Helicopter

We happened to see this simple toy at Bedok Central. A lot of people is playing, shooting this lighted LED helicpoter into the sky as high as 7/8 storey.

Guess what, it costs only one dollar each. We bought two to try and play...hehe..

It is better to play at night when you can see it flying and spinning into the sky.

Next time, if i have the chance, i take some video...

Ready for Japan!

I bought these two items recently. Not because I am going some kind of mountain treking or G shock bungee jumping.

Happened that one of my old Casio watch is spoilt. So look around for one to replace. Found this model. Got the moon and tidal indication. Actually, I don't bother this function. Just that it probably look decent, so I get this. There is red and white colour available., But finally chose this colour...

As for the boots, looks kinda of buggy. It is from Hi-Tec. This model is called Haka Trail WP. Can go to their website to take a look. Look robust and it's waterproof some more. Good leh, will try one day...haha

Guess I bought just in time for my coming Japan holiday...Yipee!

Nokia 1616

Because of work at "sensitive area", I need to carry a non-camera mobile phone around.

Happened that I come across this Nokia model that can have 500 contacts listing, torchlight and radio.

Simple design and this is what I wanted! So ask someone to help me to buy this at only $40! Worth it, as other mobile shop selling min $58 above. When I take a closer look, it is made in India, not China. Is India product cost cheaper than China now?

Only problem is the duplicate contacts viewing and the hard keys on the phone. Guess got to take me sometime to get used to it... lastly, hope the mobile phone last!

LG LED LCD 21.5" Monitor

It is great to view my favourite TV shows and also do my autocad drafting on this 21.5" LED LCD LG monitor. Bought during the last IT show sometime in Sep 2010.

This monitor can be desk mounted standing or sitting on the the desk. Comes with the HDMI input and standard VGA, dual web screen (which I rarely used) and full HD resolution 1920 x 1080. Damage was about $298, came with free HDMI cable + trolley - DVI cable

At least, I don't have to wink my eyes at my 14" notebook anymore...hooray!
